God, he's so old! I still think of him as Corky so here he just looks as old as the hills to me.

His full name and title is Christopher Haden-Guest, 5th Baron Haden-Guest for the anglophiliac curious.

He probably didn't look much different when he played Corky. I think he's been grey for a while.

And yeah, that baroncy (I think that's right -- somebody look it up) is a very curious aspect of his biography. I think his "power" as royalty was greatly diminished through some kind of meaningless English blue-blood act of...whatever. I don't know. I don't think he actually has any say in any matter that has anything to do with English Royalty, though, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't care.

I wish Fred Willard had a say in what happens in Britain.

Fred Willard, speaking in Parliament:

"I got a real red wagon! I can't do my work! I don't think so!"

I think he'd get a lot done.

"You're all just bastard people!"

"I'm just gonna go home and bite my pillow, that's what I'm gonna do!"

Love that Corky. Love Mr. Guest!

"How man babies can fit inside the tire? It's like the old joke."

I remember, Fox. I hope that guy's dead now.

Jonathan Lapper is dead, too. He pissed off Arbogast.

Ever watched the DVD extras "deleted scenes" on "Guffman"? They're as funny as anything that made it into the movie.

I particularly like the one where Guest goes to the Dairy Queen to tell Parker Posey she's been cast in the show, and he goes "I'd like one small Coke and one ingenue to go, please!"

Pat - Oh, I've watched those deleted scenes, all right, and for the life of me I can't understand why -- in the name of all that is holy -- they could have cut the "This Bulging River" number. That song is brilliant!

Speaking of dead, Karl Malden is now too. :o(

Aw, man...

Corky? You guys are way off base. He'll always be Nigel to me.

Especially at the end of "This Bulging River" where Corky hits the high note in falsetto - pure gold.

Rick - Nigel is great, of course. This is Spinal Tap is a masterpiece. But I think I like Waiting for Guffman just a little bit more.

Greg - And when Corky hits that note, I love the way Fred Willard looks at him.

Oh yeah! And I love his dance moves in that duet with Paker Posey ("A Penny for your Thoughts" ?) especially when he tries to do that weird bow thing at the end and he can't quite get to the floor.

All of the choreography in "A Penny for Your Thoughts" is fantastic.
