I can tell you right now that you'd hate it, though, so I'm not about to try making a case for it here.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05364322006357208797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-53326238464128689462014-05-27T22:26:44.684-04:002014-05-27T22:26:44.684-04:00If I had any reason to believe CANNIBAL FEROX was ...If I had any reason to believe CANNIBAL FEROX was a good movie, I'd see it. That's why I saw CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, and slaughtered animals or no, in my opinion that movie's a piece of garbage.

I watched WAKE IN FRIGHT knowing what I was getting into because I thought it would be a good movie (it was), but I'm not going to watch animal cruelty just so I can see a movie that's not even supposed to be as good as CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST.bill r.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17748572205731857892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-51224939159453069692014-05-27T16:03:31.269-04:002014-05-27T16:03:31.269-04:00Can't recall now, exactly, but it's probab...Can't recall now, exactly, but it's probably a safe bet that they do. Still, I doubt it's any worse than the sort of thing you're liable to see in a Haneke movie every now and then. Or the ritual slaughter in certain cuts of Apocalypse Now (and claims that that's somehow different because it "would've happened anyway" don't mean much to me, since it was probably also going to happen anyway to at least some of the animals slaughtered in the cannibal movies, sooner or later). Or even something relatively innocuous like the casual picking-off of a crow scavenging in a farmer's field, in one of those boring bullshit epics by Jodorowsky.

Our disagreement with regard to the merits of Cannibal Holocaust aside, I do largely share your feelings on this. Real animal cruelty is the only thing in movies that can genuinely bother me anymore, although I wouldn't dream of considering it taboo. I still love Hitchcock's The Birds as much as ever, even after learning of the mistreatment of the animals involved, and then of course there's the question of how many other movies I regard highly may have involved some degree of animal abuse in their production that isn't public knowledge, and doesn't appear onscreen?Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05364322006357208797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-12124697352216948222014-05-26T20:16:04.259-04:002014-05-26T20:16:04.259-04:00Both feature real animal slaughter, don't they...Both feature real animal slaughter, don't they? I saw CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and the film that surrounded the animal deaths didn't come within shrieking distance of justifying it. That's my one major taboo, and if the movie doesn't seem worthwhile then forget it.bill r.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17748572205731857892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-35894694981632366442014-05-26T16:18:22.452-04:002014-05-26T16:18:22.452-04:00...Umberto Lenzi, a filmmaker best known for his c......Umberto Lenzi, a filmmaker best known for his cannibal films Cannibal Ferox and Eaten Alive!
