On top of that, I talk about it in terms other than "how DARE he!" I don't know the nature of the relationship between the two characters in question, so I imagine it could be interpreted any number of ways. But, regardless, I don't accept it to be some major transgression for which the book deserves censure.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05364322006357208797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-73303056412531307422015-02-16T21:07:39.899-05:002015-02-16T21:07:39.899-05:00Well, first off, that's what he said, and seco...Well, first off, that's what he said, and second off, there's more in the book that paints the character as someone who might well indeed say something like that.bill r.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17748572205731857892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-33523086296854504362015-02-16T13:44:03.406-05:002015-02-16T13:44:03.406-05:00Book sounds a little too wacky for me, though I th...Book sounds a little too wacky for me, though I think you make too much of a slightly tongue-in-cheek throwaway remark there. I hardly think "BUT YES, I AM TEMPTED TO RAPE YOU, MY DEAR!" was the intended tone of the thing.

But then, again, this is the internet, of course.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05364322006357208797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-65249113670921494242015-02-10T10:57:31.248-05:002015-02-10T10:57:31.248-05:00For no good reason at all I feel the urge to point...For no good reason at all I feel the urge to point out that The Simpsons referenced Oboler more than once -- they also based that last gag of Treehouse of Horror V about the fog that turns people inside out on "The Dark" episode of Lights Out. Which is a marvellously eerie piece of sonic craftsmanship, I might add.Roderick Heathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08107539379079558068noreply@blogger.com
