You better be wrong.

And yes, you should check out Silverberg. Start with THE BOOK OF SKULLS. It's really, really good.bill r.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17748572205731857892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-76159756335359727082011-10-10T18:31:05.756-04:002011-10-10T18:31:05.756-04:00THE TERROR is one of the most let-downingest novel...THE TERROR is one of the most let-downingest novels I've ever read! But then, I've been mixed on lots of Simmons as well. SONG OF KALI and the first two HYPERIONS are faves, like a lot of his short stories, but CARRION COMFORT, ENDYMION, and CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT really just encouraged me to put the books down. Maybe I should try some Silverberg, though. Will Erricksonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16285306262078600804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-81991146050983029462011-10-06T10:04:15.467-04:002011-10-06T10:04:15.467-04:00Better a right-wing diatribe than a left-wing one,...Better a right-wing diatribe than a left-wing one, though, am I right? Which is my way of saying that Simmons's rightward leanings over the past ten years -- which he's expressed on his website -- have not bothered me one jot.bill r.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17748572205731857892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-6040382548617197262011-10-05T19:52:52.238-04:002011-10-05T19:52:52.238-04:00A lot of "Flashback" comes off a right-w...A lot of "Flashback" comes off a right-wing diatribe, which was surprising and disappointing to read. That being said, Simmons claims the opinions of his characters are not his own in this case. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but reading several sections of the book was a bit dispiriting.Taidanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09445905825356339877noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-12414620799633539612011-10-04T10:07:29.319-04:002011-10-04T10:07:29.319-04:00No, I haven't read it. All I know about FLASHBACK is that it sounds a lot like Ken Grimwood's REPLAY, which Simmons has talked up on his website before.bill r.https://www.blogger.com/profile/17748572205731857892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2856547151523423474.post-6483653877466221652011-10-04T01:27:06.555-04:002011-10-04T01:27:06.555-04:00Any opinion on er- Simmons going insane, if Flashb...Any opinion on er- Simmons going insane, if Flashback is to be any indication. It is really odd looking in a table of contents like that.
